Om suastiastu (hello in Balinese).
Taking my first steps into our Love With Heart Online Blog here in Bali, so hello in Balinese.
Today is Nyepi, Balinese "Day of Silence", which is celebrated here in Bali, through silence, fasting, and meditation.

It is a perfect beginning for our LWH blog.
This first post is about Silence.
How do you feel about silence?
Does it make you feel calm, or do you get uncomfortable with silence? Are you someone who can sit with your thoughts, or do you usually run away from it? Silence, or the capacity to sit in silence, is actually a really important quality.
It trains us to be aware of our thoughts, how we think, what we think, and in turn, it allows us to get in touch with our feelings.
Especially these days with all sorts of quiet, easy, distractions readily available all around us...
The capacity to sit in silence, therefore, is a precursor to self-reflection.
Do you engage in self-reflection?
If you do... that is pretty amazing. What does your mind turn towards when in silence? What occupies your silent thoughts and in the quiet moments of your life?
Do share them with me. I would love to get to know you.
If you don't yet feel comfortable with sitting in silence, that's totally okay.
No judgement here. If you are seeing this blog post, then this may be the sign you need to start challenging yourself this new year 2023.
Here's my challenge for you:
For the next 30 days, try setting aside 5 minutes at the same time every day and sit in silence.
(Why the same time every day? When creating a new habit, consistency is the key. 30 days is also a great cycle to initiate a new habit to your life). It could be any time - first thing in the morning, during your lunch hour, or right before bed.
Let me know how this Sit in Silence challenge goes for you.
I will be trying it too! Starting from today. I'll update my experience 30 days from now.
Let's call it, Day of Silence: the Pensive. (I love HP).
With Love and Heart,
Fiona

Do I have to be in a dark room to sit in silence? Can I do it anywhere
